Who has fired a gun in real life besides a nerf gun or bb/airsoft gun?

I remember last week when I went to this training thing with my dad because he is a training instructor for law enforcement. He let me go twice and I fired his Glock 22 (.40 cal), M16 (Full-auto, 5.56x45mm or .223), and his Super X2 shotgun (semi-auto, 12 gauge). His M16 is awesome, it has an EOTech sight, Magpul magazines, a foregrip, AAC muzzle (you can attach a suppresor to it, but they cost around $600!) and best of all, ITS FULLY AUTOMATIC! He gives me proper training with the weapons so I dont have that much muzzle climb and better handling. I even got to run in one of the pistol course with the other deputys in training. I did pretty well and at the 5 foot line I thought I couldn't, but I fired his G22 one handed! It didnt recoil in my hand as much as I thought it would. By the way, his G22 has a Zombie Response Team logo on the back of it and his M16 fires 600-800 rounds per minute! I also have my own Marlin .22 with a red dot on it and a .20 gauge shotgun.

So what guns have you guys fired in real life?

Rise's hand-
I fired a gun... It was called, gun... ( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º)

Closest I've come to a real gun is a paintball gun, and even then I can tell you need to angle shots at long range (because they fill the air tanks only with so much air in them).

As far as a live gun? No. My mother did when she was little though, has despised me of ever touching even NERF guns because of that (I'm lucky to have two Nite Finder EX-3s). :tongueout:

Huh, well guess you could modify your Nitefinders into bruise making airsoft guns. You just need a stronger spring and a .06 inch pipe with some pvc and duck tape. Or modify your watersoaker into a flamethrower... Itll require some metal pipes and rubber grips with a lighter that has a button to stay light.

I shot a shotgun once, and almost sprained my arm. Lemme tell you, that ain't fun. It takes a certain type of skill to get a horrendous 3/50 score in target shooting.

I am aware of the numerous NERF gun mods. I would try them, but I lack proper tools to do that, and the funds to get PVC and a stronger spring that would fit in that.

I had a dinky water pistol in the past. Unfortunately my mom confiscated/threw it in the garbage because she somehow finds a water gun more lethal than a NERF gun (or she thinks I'm going to spray our cat with them, which I wouldn't).

Your mom is very over-protective... You could just use ducktape and find a toolkit somewhere is the house or garage. If not then ask your dad (or mom lol) where the tools are and say your using them for a project.

Hmm. You should have held it closer in in the meaty part of your arm and find your comfy spot. Once you find that spot you can easily pull up a weapon and fire it no problem.

Well, whether it's the fact my house isn't big enough to fire a NERF rifle in, or my mom has a plethora of antiques and heirlooms in the house, I'l probably never be able to own anything except those 2 NERF pistols for as long as I live in my parent's house. (When I get my own house, then I might consider buying an air rifle, because the laws and procedures in place for firearms in Canada are plentiful.) To own a firearm in Canada requires plowing through a load of documents, and taking courses for firearm safety and such (my grandpa sold his guns shortly before his family moved further down south in Ontario, which was just before they remodified the gun liscensing procedure in Canada).

In a way, it'd be awesome if I could go to/find a local shooting range that rents out guns to people so they can fire them. Until I ever get such a thing, I'l stick with my NERF guns (however I might man up and buy an air rifle at least when I can).

Your Canadian? I never knew that! Well a good place to go to own a firearm down in the States. You can get yourself a .20 gauge shotgun down here for about $300+ dollars but there are a few basic requirements. (California and New York are the strictest in gun control, not recommend for moving there to buy a weapon)
  1. You have to be a legal citizen of the US and over 18.
  2. Must have not committed a crime or felony.
  3. They will perform a backround check to make sure you dont have a criminal backround. Duh!
  4. Have a legal gun buyer licence of course!
Laws vary throughout the states but some put taxes on certian classes of firearms. In Iowa and probably Texas you have to have a Class III weapon buying permit to buy an assault rifle.
Oh and an air rifle usually has no restictions down here too. They are like nerf guns but much more powerful. You can break a window and kill small varmints with an air rifle! They cost around $20-60 depending on where you live. Dont buy airsoft though. The cheap ones you can see its BB go through the air at like 4 feet per second.

My experience was similar to Brooke's. My dad brought me to a shooting range when I was 8. The gun (maybe a shotgun? I hardly remember) was pretty heavy, but man I was excited. I played FPS games with my dad all the time, and was totally confident, eager to impress the 30-50 year old adults around me. Unfortunately, Xbox controllers don't really prepare you for the recoil. The blast made me fall over; I think I might've had a concussion. I landed hardest on my side with my head hitting the ground next, then the gun slamming me in the forehead soon afterwards. Yeah, KO'd for a few seconds. My dad was embarassed for not holding me while I was shooting such a large gun. Luckily, I had scraps and brusies; nothing was broken. Suffice to say, I spent the rest of the day collecting bullet shells on the floor while my Dad shot birds with his co-workers.

I haven't gone to a shooting range since then. I'm not traumatized though! I do want to try it again-- I wonder how well I can handle the recoil now, and if it would be more fun. I don't even think I was holding the gun properly, so the violent recoil could've been because of that too.

When I was in Washington state for Christmas one of my gifts was a modern hunting rifle
When I practiced using it in Engi's Backyard i didn't sprain myself (unlike @Brooke ) but I have to say it was heavy
At least it was heavy so it wouldn't recoil so high. Im thinking when I get older to save up for a Karabiner 98K and an original Mauser C96 with the stock thing. Or get the Barret M107A1 and a FNP-45, though an FNP-45 has a ridiculous price tag of $1000+! A Barret on the other hand cost $8000+, not bad for an Anti-Deer rifle but at least its not considered a destructive device like the SPAS-12. Stupid liberalists thinking a SPAS-12 is an Anti-Aircraft gun and a Class A destructive device.

well i once went to a museum and they letted you shot a target with an actuall laser.[like the alien gun in pg]i shoted the target and it cought on fire but other than that nope

Isn't a Barett M107A1, classified as a "Military Sniper Rifle", thus out of reach from the hands of a "Civillian Gun License"? Besides, what are you planning to do with that gun!?
