Why are people spamming the Dark Matter Generator? I see at least one in almost every server I join. They always kill me with it. Also, it is so annoying, I tried to throw a grenade and then my enemy shot the DMG so the grenade went to me and I died...

It's because of its high-rate of fire along with its knock back capabilities. So that if you were caught in the fire, then you wouldn't be able to fight back properly.

In short, it's very efficient, which is why it's used so much.

It's a good weapon to kill people with. I could see why it's annoying though. Sometimes my own team members start shooting at me withit, and I go flying off somewhere.
 
If I remember correctly it can be bought with coins so this is the main reason (I think) and I also agree with the others answers.. Yes it can be quite annoying, just like the mine launch and the storm hammer and the kaboom.

I don't agree with you, but we all have our own way to play the game.. Personally I don't like when both my own team and the other team is using kaboom etc, I keep bouncing around the map :-) but I can agree on that the dark matter Def is on top 5 of the most annoying weapons.
 
Get good with long range weaponry, and you'll be fine. I normally keep flanking right and left, or jump around with StormTrooper boots, so I'm harder to hit, and finish them with the Prototype.
