When and why was Kaneki Ken hospitalized?

He was hospitalized on two occasions. The first time was due to the accident which involved having a ghouls organs transplanted into him.

The second was after his "death" at the hands of Arima, which is why he now suffers severe amnesia,and now goes by "Haise Sasaki"

Not much is known about the origins of ghouls, not even the ghouls themselves know. Some theorise that they are a mutation, some say they are further evolved than humans, other suggest we just share a common ancestor.

Ghouls like to do normal activities too, no different to humans.

Considering his whole character revolves around ninja aspects, I'd say he's closer to Japanese lore

Opinion, as we clearly see he is incalculably strong all round e.g. (jumping to earth from the moon)
