Funny you should mention, over at SWBFGamers we have a thread about this already (upwards to about 30 posts in it too I think). Everyone's expectations there are "meh" and "fan-made" for the most part. However, keep in mind, this trailer was tossed up just so the producers could throw something visual at their fans and keep them wanting more. I didn't expect much when I saw the trailer anyways, so for the moment I'd say lower your high expectations on this, and be realistic here.
Not to mention, this is just stuff they had finished. There's no telling how the actual 2-minute trailer is going to look for this.
I too had low expectations for this film, but not so low that I'd think it would fail. Just low enough that the film would be a bit casual (although knowing me, I'l eat those words when I see the film for myself).
I'l admit though, that cross-guard lightsaber hilt does irk me the wrong way. Other than that, it all looks cool.
EDIT: Just a reminder, this takes place 30 YEARS after Return of The Jedi. So of course I expect new tech and whatnot (cross-guard hilt though is pushing that a tad though).

Though, in all honesty, I think the expectations for this movie are totally underrated. I agree that the girl riding a vehicle of that design, the R2 type droid on a rolling football, and the design of that lightsaber may look a wee bit silly, but can't these be overlooked? Other than that, the rest of the trailer looks quite impressive. I'd say that my expectations are slightly over average. Though, only time will tell if this movie's going to fail or succeed.

I think JJ is taking the "cool" looking route. But logic? That's out the window.

Perhaps, but nonetheless, I haven't given up hope for this film yet. It's a good chance I'l end up watching this, regardless of what the trailers show. Even then, my dad and I have been discussing about watching the film in IMAX.
There's also been speculation as of late that they might do a one-night airing of the film, 6 months prior to official release. This was done for Episode I (and a few other episodes, I believe), but nonetheless, it could still happen.

I thought the movie was pretty good. (The ripoff of the Death Star was kinda silly tho) the overall plot was pretty thought out. But, I still don't think it's as good as Rouge One, or The Empire Strikes Back
