To be efficient with your ammo don't spam attacks and reload as often as possible, being sure to collect tons of ammo. If you have full ammo except for, say 13 rounds on the denominator, then fire off 13 rounds, reload, collect the ammo, and you have full ammo!! Hope this helps.
